Details of service
The assessment process includes coming in for an initial evaluation in order to discuss your current concerns and background of the symptoms you may be experiencing. If testing is requested because you are concerned about your child's performance in school, the initial evaluation will most likely be scheduled with only the parents, in order to discuss your concerns freely. You would then schedule your child's assessment sessions for a later date in order to complete testing. Further, testing can be helpful for evaluation of an aging parent's cognitive ability, particularly if you are concerned about recent declines in memory, language, and problem solving.
After the initial evaluation, a comprehensive set of tests is selected in order to assess your specific concerns, and testing sessions will be scheduled according to your time preference. Typically, a memory disorder assessment takes between 2-3 hours, and a learning disability assessment takes between 6-8 hours (and can be broken down into multiple sessions).
A feedback session will be scheduled for 2-3 weeks after the assessment is complete, in order to discuss all of the test results, and elaborate on how your (or your loved one's) performance may explain or highlight any difficulties you may have expressed, but also helps one understand if their problems are “normal” in relation to their peers. At this feedback session, recommendations and treatment options will also be discussed to address any cognitive and/or emotional challenges.

Learning Disabilities (reading, written language, mathematics)
